DCYRs Elect Leadership for 2005

The Dauphin County Young Republicans held their officer elections for 2005 on Thursday.  Adrienne Mitford was re-elected Chairman, after presiding over one of the most productive years for the organization.  Dave Bloomer was elected Vice Chair, succeeding Amanda Pflugh, who had not sought re-election. Amy Dohner was re-elected Treasurer, and Rob Pugliese was re-elected the organization's Secretary. 

After the results were announced, Ms. Mitford pledged the leadership team to continuing the efforts of last year, with emphasis on providing community service to Dauphin County and to continue to reflect the strong values embodied by the Republican Party. 


Speaker of U.S. House Dennis Hastert Visits Capitol
SEPT. 3, 2004

Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Dennis Hastert visited the state Capitol on Sept. 3 to Speak to Central Pennsylvanians about the need to re-elect President Bush. Hastert also told the crowd that 17th Congressional Republican candidate Scott Paterno should be elected to take the seat back from Tim Holden.

The event was headed up by state Rep. Ron Marsico, who is serving as Bush-Cheney 04 County Chairman for Dauphin County. Also joining were other local state representatives and a coalition of doctors and nurses who support tort reform.


Dauphin YRs Play Softball with President Bush!
AUGUST 31, 2004

President Bush made a campaign stop in Carlisle where local YRs were playing a playing a friendly game of softball with the College Republicans. After taking a turn at bat, the President spoke with daughters Jena and Barbara at the convention via satellite and introduced First Lady Laura Bush.

Rep. Marsico Speaks to Young Republicans

Rep. Ron Marsico spoke with the Dauphin County Young Republicans on the importance of working to re-elect President George W. Bush. Rep. Jerry Stern  (Blair County) and his son also paid a visit to our meeting. His son is setting up a YR chapter back home and was checking out our chapter for ideas.

Barbara and Jenna Bush Visit with DCYRs in Harrisburg

Several members of the Dauphin County Young Republicans had the opportunity to meet and talk with President Bush’s daughters, Barbara and Jenna, when the first daughters made a July 22 campaign visit to Bush-Cheney headquarters in Harrisburg.

Barbara and Jenna visited with volunteers, including DCYRs Adrienne Mitford, Amy Dohner, Kent Wissinger and Rob Pugliese, and personally thanked them for their hard work on behalf of President Bush’s re-election. They spoke to the assembled group about the personal side of their dad and encouraged everyone to continue to work hard during the campaign. Barbara and Jenna then visited the phone banks and made a few calls to lucky Dauphin County voters.
